ALUMNI TALK: JOURNEY FROM UNIVERSITY TO OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY

by WEATHERFORD

It is not simple, but it is not impossible, to transition from university to the oil and gas industry. When you venture into exciting challenges, there are always new things to learn. Ms. Harpreet Kaur Dalgit Singh, MPD Project Engineer from Weatherford, addressed this on TVEX 4.0 and shared her insights with us. Ms. Harpreet was a Civil Engineering student specializing in offshore structure and oceanography with no formal training in the oil and gas industry.  However, she believes that taking courses, attending conferences around the world, and doing hands-on work have benefited her transformation.

Ms. Harpreet encouraged us to pursue new things and step beyond our comfort zones. This is because most employers would want to recruit unique individuals with uncommon interests.  information that is special and less common. To stand out, it is essential that you keep an open mind and explore new things that you have not experienced throughout your university days.

She challenged everyone to get involved in the oil and gas industry, even if they are not majoring in it. Start exploring, attend talks about various industries, and who knows, maybe you’ll appreciate this new beginning. If you’re considering a career in the oil and gas industry, remember to utilize the speaker’s advice! Do not forget to connect with our speaker, Ms. Harpreet, on LinkedIn for additional information and insights.
