An internship makes the classroom’s abstract theories and learned examples concrete by placing the student in a real-life work situation with real-life co-workers performing actual professional tasks. Student Industrial Internship Programme (SIIP) is compulsory for every UTP student, which requires extensive preparation. TVEX 4.0 is delighted to have three outstanding speakers share their experiences and how they scored an ‘A’ in their SIIP.

Mr. Dinish Mutu, one of the speakers, said that it is essential to engage with the host company and ask questions of the host company’s employees in order to overcome the communication barrier. He also emphasized that we should learn about the company’s operations before starting the internship because it will definitely help us have a better work experience. Ms. Teh Hui Ying, another speaker, stated that her host company, Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad, assigned her to various corporate tasks, including analyzing process parameter data and developing process flow diagrams. It is important to discuss and specify the scope of work with the host company’s supervisor to make sure you meet their expectation. Mr. Wafi Mansyur Balfas, our final speaker, underlined the significance of preparation prior to an internship, which also involves learning about the company’s background and culture to make the transition easier. Before concluding the session, the presenters shared the challenges they faced during their internships as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak and offered tips on how to stay motivated throughout the pandemic.

Develop your career by using the speakers’ advice during your future internship program to ensure a positive and wonderful working experience. If you have more lingering questions that need to be answered, you may connect with the speakers on LinkedIn at
